About Lane Owen
Painting is a sometimes understated, sometimes bold statement of self with content stated flat out or hidden, awaiting discovery.
About artist:
Lane’s diverse upbringing was split between the Appalachian mountains and coastal plain of North and South Carolina. Having a national forest as his back yard and village streets lined with moss covered oaks and 100 year old houses, provided the perfect storm of creativity and opportunity to launch a lifelong journey of the love of nature and art. Lane strongly believes in the essential human need of creative expression. Since 2006, he has provided the Seneca, SC community with artistic opportunities in the establishment of The Artists’ Loft, an art cooperative that is a venue for creative events, art lessons and opportunities for artists to share their experiences and art. He has acted as president-elect and president of Blue Ridge Arts Council a non-profit art organization and is currently an artist guild member of The Arts Center in Clemson SC. He teaches children, adults and seniors the simplicity and elegance of art. Lane is committed to bridging the art community with local government and Clemson University to enhance the region’s art presence.
An avid supporter of conservation efforts, he has been a graphic designer and guest artist for Create Oconee. Their mantra: "What's your footprint?" calls for individual accountability and responsibility for the protection and promotion of the “Golden Corner” of South Carolina.
As a full time artist, Lane has established that a portion of his work and profit go to conservation and community charities.
